Greg Oberbeck
I don’t have enough time… Greg has been a Social Worker since 2006. He has worked in a Leaving Care team as a Social Worker, Senior Practitioner and a Team Manager. Greg has also worked as part of Essex's front door triaging referrals into Social Care. For the last thirteen years, he has worked with the D-BIT Service helping to keep families together using the Solution Focused approach. Greg's passion and enthusiasm for the SF approach has led him to being part of the Essex Solution Focused Centre, as well as Solution Focused Possibilities, focusing on supporting others to learn and develop their own use of SF practice. Greg is a published author, and is the co-lead for Solution Focused Accreditation with the UKASFP.
One of the biggest challenges that I hear people talk about in trainings is how they are limited on time. This is sometimes because of the volume of work they have or even the competing demands on what little time they do have with people. While we know that typical 50 minute Solution Focused sessions make a difference, we can also make a difference in shorter spaces of time. This might be that short chat in the corridor, a short phone call, in 1:1/supervisory meetings or even through some text messages. In this workshop, we will be exploring what helps us be useful in these scenarios. I will be asking those that attend to bring some scenarios from your own context so that we can then explore what might be useful for you the next time you encounter that situation. Participants can hope to walk away from this workshop feeling more hopeful about making a difference when they are limited on time. This will link with participants seeing various different opportunities of bringing Solution Focused thinking and questions into their day-to-day work.
